It took him six months to ask her out on a date. She wasn't sure if he was interested, and he wasn't sure what to say, but after some coaxing from a mutual friend, he finally went through with it. Three years later, they're engaged. And when you see the two of them together, I would venture to say it was well worth the wait.
Andrew and I met up with Erin and Brian at the Vermillion restaurant in Old Town Alexandria - the location of their first date. If you've never been before, you're missing out: fantastic and tasty menu, vibrant and colorful decor, and an extremely friendly and accommodating staff. We were able to shoot anywhere and everywhere in the restaurant and had a wonderful time!
To make matters better, as we were shooting and just about to wrap up, Brian looks up from the table and says, "I recognize that woman... wait, she was our server from our first date!" Erin spots the woman and excitedly confirms. All this time later and the elements of the first date still manage to come together! How serendipitous is that?!
After keeping warm indoors (and a few Blue Steel poses from Brian), we braved the streets and took a walk. Old Town Alexandria is tremendously scenic, even before the flowers and plants have had a chance to bloom. However, it's also a VERY over-shot area, with a lot of cheesy, corny, and other food-related adjectives depicting the photographs. Therefore, Andrew and I made it our mission to try to stand out and make our photos different than whatever you can find on Google while simultaneously showcasing Erin and Brian's sociable, upbeat, and low key nature.
We'll let you decide for yourself!
Despite the chilly day, we had such a great time hanging out with Erin and Brian! These two are really fun, and their love for each other is absolutely apparent and can warm up any cold day!
Until next time,
